Serves: 2 Pie Crusts

Ingredients


  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter
    • Chilled and Cubed
  • 2/3 Cup Shortening
    • Chillled
  • 1/2 Cup Ice Cold Water

Directions


ASSEMBLE

  1. Whisk the flour and salt together in a large bowl.
  2. Add the butter and shortening and cut them into the flour until it resembles pea sized meal. ****Do not overwork the ingredients****
  3. Measure 1/2 cup cold water and add 1 Tablespoon at a time to the mixture. Stop adding when the dough begins to form large clumps.
  4. Add more than 1/2 cup water if needed, 1 Tablespoon at a time.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and work the dough. The dough should come together and not feel too sticky. **** Do not overwork the dough****
  6. Form into a ball and cut in half. Flatten each half into 1″ thick disc.
  7. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours or up to 5 days

Notes:
Freeze the dough for up to 3 months.
