BELGIAN WAFFLES

Serves: 4-6 Waffles

Ingredients


  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1/3 Cup Unsalted Butter
    • Melted
  • 1 Egg
    • Room Temp and Separated
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Bean Paste

Directions


  1. In a bowl beat the egg white until stiff peaks form and set aside.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix well.

  3. Add the milk, butter, egg yolk, sugar and vanilla and mix just until combined. Do not overmix!! Some lumps are okay!

  4. Gently fold in the egg whites until combined. Be careful to not to deflate the egg whites.

  5. Let the batter sit for 30 minutes and then heat the waffle iron.

  6. Cook the waffles!

Notes:
Vanilla extract is a fine sub for vanilla bean paste
